What an AMAZING August! After getting to know Aaron a little better in July through some great camping and boating, we kept the momentum going and took off on an 8-night cruise this month. Because he was working remotely during the week, it gave me the opportunity to navigate many days on my own, find things to keep busy, and dive into the social scene.
This trip was a major milestone for me: my 13th cruise, and my third time back on the Symphony—my very first ship and still my absolute favorite (yes, it’s even better than the Star!). But this sailing was noticeably different. It was my first cruise without the guys who introduced me to this whole world. Life evolves, and paths change, but looking back, I’m grateful for the foundation they helped build.

Stepping out on this trip and realizing I could thrive independently brought on a massive wave of self-confidence. When you go through a traumatic brain injury, true independence is incredibly hard to get back. You spend so long just trying to manage the sensory overload, the exhaustion, and the daily uphill battle of recovery.
To be able to navigate a massive ship on my own, own my space, and effortlessly connect with so many awesome people at the social events was profound. It made me realize something huge: I don’t just feel like I have my life back. I finally feel like I am so much more than I ever was before the TBI.

Of course, I wasn’t entirely on a solo journey—I’m so thankful for everyone who has stayed by my side. I miss so many. But being on the ship with Aaron was cool, and sharing this getaway made it that much better.
Fall is close! Let this be your reminder to be authentically YOU. You’re more than you think, and stronger than you know. Own it. ❤️
